Principles

Leadership

Each group has a leader and one or more assistant leaders. They are responsible for arranging and leading the meetings. They can delegate activities to other group members and they report to the Sponsor through the training meetings.

Accountability

Group members are accountable firstly to Christ and then to each other. As each person discovers God's will for their lives, they make themselves accountable to the group, to help them live this out. Also, leaders and assistant leaders are accountable to their Sponsor, in terms of fulfilling their responsibilities.

Training

The Sponsor arranges training for leaders and assistant leaders. The training covers all aspects of leading small groups and is a forum for bringing feedback and raising issues. Short courses on different topics are also run occasionally which are open to all.

Commitment to Community

Each group is a small Christian community where members experience love, friendship and Christian fellowship. Group members commit themselves to pray for one another and to attend the home meetings and worship services. Also, people are encouraged to share their lives and spend time with each other outside the arranged meetings.

The body of Christ

We celebrate the positive aspects of the rich diversity that exists within the body of Christ and we believe that God works through the various Christian traditions to further his kingdom. We therefore encourage all group members to be actively involved in a local Christian church.

Involvement of all

We believe that everyone is called to serve in some way within the body of Christ and that the Holy Spirit gives spiritual gifts to each person to help them to do this.

Confidentiality

In principle, matters discussed within a group are confidential to the meeting and are not discussed outside the group.

Discipleship

We believe that Christ calls his church to make disciples, not just converts. We see discipleship as an ongoing process, encouraging everyone to become mature, committed and fruitful followers of Jesus Christ.

Evangelism & Outreach

We believe that Christ calls us to reach out to those who are not in a relationship with Him. The goal of each group, therefore, is to grow in size by building friendships and offering personal invitations to become involved.
