History

The Growth groups were started in the South Dublin area in September 1998. They arose after some years of ecumenical work between Dun Laoghaire Methodist Church and St. Michael's Catholic Church involving joint Alpha Courses and Bible Studies.

In March 1998, the congregation in Blackrock Methodist Church moved to Dun Laoghaire, leaving the building free for outreach activities. A committee with representatives from the local churches met during this year and agreed in principle to support several outreach projects, one of which is the Growth Groups. This vision grew out of a prayerful concern for both Unity and Discipleship within the body of Christ.
